ACOSS (Art Centre of Social studies) is an artist lead initiative and major artists-in-residence program and project workshop for the promotion of different categories of art and international exchange, based in Yerevan, Armenia. The ACOSS Artist-in-Residence program invites artists from all artistic disciplines to live, work, and collaborate during their preferred time of staying.
Unfortunatly, we have not butget yet and can not offer grants. Now our program is self financing and main part of expenses are by invited artists. But sometimes financial aid and artists' stodio exchange residency is available.
ACOSS has studios for making installations, painting, sculpture. Dance, and music studios (arrangement, recording of live music, mixing, mastering etc.) are available.
ACOSS residency buildings are located in Djrvezh, one of the districts of Yerevan and in Aramus, one of the villages near Yerevan city. This village is famous with its carrot and it is known as "carrot village". It takes 35 minutes by car or bus from Aramus to Yerevan and 20 minutes from Djrvezh to the city center of Yerevan. The residency territory in Aramus occupies 1500 m/sq, which includes orchard and living house with comfortable quarters. There is possibility to live and work in the same area.
Through the Artist-in-Residence the ACOSS supports international art activities bringing multicultural dimension to the region. The guest artists have opportunity to work in a peace space, separated from the everyday haste, set new contacts in the art field as well as to the local community. If artist's project is connected with Yerevan city, the ACOSS offers housing in the city. Interested artists have to discuss this matter with the ACOSS director beforehand.
Each residency session includes assistents of different disciplines. During the residency, artists participate in informal sessions with their group, collaborate on projects, and work independently on their own projects. The relaxed atmosphere and unstructured program provide considerable time for artistic regeneration and creation.
Financial aid is available.
The center is able to hold more than 15 Fellows in residence at one time.
Please, note:
ACOSS also has opportunity to provide artists with separate apartments in other districts of Yerevan and in the country.
